Doveton Community Care Units

The Doveton Community Care project comprises a number of dwellings with a central staff facility to house people with intellectual disabilities in a residential environment in the local community of Doveton in Matipo Street beside the Doveton Senior Citizens Centre and the Chestnut Gardens Aged Care Centre. The care units provide a range of accommodation types that suit the varying levels of supervision that residents require from semi-independent single bed units to 3 and four bedroom share house models for around 21 residents.

This project was procured as a design construct project with the builder Merkon Constructions as a stakeholder to whom Harmer Architecture provided design and construction drawings.

Other key stakeholders included representatives from the Department of Human Services and Dandenong Hospital (Southern Health) with whom Harmer Architecture consulted to develop the design brief and design.
