  • In 2016 Harmer Architecture were commissioned by the Dominican Fathers to prepare a feasibility report and property assessment of the St Dominic’s Priory in Riversdale Road Camberwell.

Harmer Architecture carried out a detailed assessment of building condition, and compliance issues and identified areas in need of upgrading and maintenance.

The Priory was founded in the original 19th century Holyrood Mansion and with a three storey wing added in the 1930’s.

Parishioners from the adjacent Catholic Church of St. Dominics use part of the Priory as the Parish Centre.

The first stage of the Priory upgrade was completed early 2017. The upgrade comprised a comprehensive sprinkler installation, fully compliant smoke detection and alarm system to all three floors and refurbishment of the second floor.

The construction work had to be carefully planned around the day-to-day operations of the Priory and the friars who remained in residence. Design, Construction, Tender negotiations and implementations of the works were tightly programmed into a 5 month period.

The second phase of work carried out in 2018, was a major refurbishment to the Second Floor bedrooms for noviciates and guests.
