SITE

Elaine Street, St Albans

  • Designed for the St Albans Filipino Uniting Church community the new facilities incorporate a new worship space, hall, meeting rooms, kitchen, amenities & fellowship area.

The design reflects the Filipino/Australian background of the congregation drawing from characteristics of traditional Filipino building construction & materials.

Harmer Architecture worked closely with the City of Brimbank & Heritage advisors to obtain the planning permit for the site and construction commenced in early March 2011.

The new church complex is located in the St Albans town centre and is a significant new public building for the community.

One key design element is the perforated metal screen behind the altar that features the national flower of the Philippines The Sampaguita (Jasminium Sambac).
